Charles Coleman Parker

Charles Coleman Parker was born on September 12, 1823, in Clermont, Ohio. At that time his father, Daniel Parker, was 42 and his mother, Priscilla Mulloy, was 30. He married Sarah Maria Lakinin in Ohio on October 4, 1853.

Charles graduated from Starling Medical College in Columbus, Ohio in 1850. He lectured at Upper Iowa University and was a trustee of that institution. He visited Fayette, Iowa in 1855 and bought property there. He participated in the Pike's Peak gold rush in the Spring of 1860. He came back to Iowa in the Fall and was a surgeon with the 12th Iowa infantry regiment at Fort Donelson and Shiloh.

He died on January 12, 1906, in Fayette, Iowa, at 82 and was buried there.

Charles Coleman Parker and Sarah Maria Lakinin had six children in 13 years:
